A Decision on Exclusivity

1st Person: "Did you hear? Mark Allen's rants and cock-eyed opinions are now EXCLUSIVE at Four Color Commentary!"

2nd Person: "That's nice. Who's Mark Allen?"

There. Now that I've summed up what would, without a doubt, be the response of comics fans everywhere were this bit of useless trivia to actually leak beyond this blog, we can get started.

When I began writing the occasional column for Komikazee over a year ago, I mentioned it here. I was excited and grateful for the opportunity. I'm still grateful. My excitement, however, has waned. This is mostly due to the fact that I have grown more and more guilt-ridden, for lack of a better term, over the neglect of my so-called comics blog. The site itself has turned into nothing more than another avenue of syndication for the Suspended Animation review column and occasional news on the Oklahoma Cartoonists Collection. NOT that there's anything WRONG with that. I am still honored to be a part of both endeavors and hope to be for years to come. However, I can't escape the feeling that it's not a blog if I'm not actually blogging. Brilliant, huh?

As I said, that's the main reason my excitement has fizzled. But there is a bit more. Simply put, the Komikazee site doesn't do the best job archiving articles, as many of them can no longer be found. At all. And, hey! I want those silly sound-offs and clueless blatherings out there for every comics fan to make fun of! That's only fair, isn't it?

So, for the forseeable future, my opinions, musings, ideas, anecdotes, reviews or what-have-you, whether they be comics-related or not, will be found here. Also, having run a couple already, I will be re-running the rest of the articles written for Komikazee in the weeks to come.

All of that said, I want to make it clear that the Komikazee guys are top shelf. Always friendly and exceedingly encouraging in all of my dealings with them. It's a fun site, and if you haven't checked it out, do so soon.

A Return to Blogging and Global Warming

Here, I finally decide (once again) to make this comics “blog” a TRUE blog by, well, blogging, on a more regular basis, and my blog isn’t even comics-related. Now that I’ve exceeded whatever limit there may be on the use of the word “blog” (oops!), I’ll get on with it.

A new documentary, produced by Britain’s Channel 4 television, supports what I and many others have believed for quite some time; the “science” fed to us by the “Our world is dying and it’s all our fault” crowd is horse-hockey. Some of the findings? Man-made carbon dioxide emissions are only about five percent of the total. Animals, decaying vegetation and volcanoes produce the rest. Most greenhouse gases are produced by our oceans. Also included is the argument by scientists that sunspot activity is the greatest influence on the Earth’s temperature, not your SUV.

Mind you, these are scientists from MIT and other well-known and well-respected educational institutions. Click for more information on The Great Global Warming Swindle.

Thanks to Walter Williams for bringing this to people’s attention in his column, and enjoy the YouTube video.
