So, DC is beginning a web comics imprint called Zuda Comics. Beginning in October, the content will be comprised primarily of material submitted by fans and voted on by fans. Those chosen will be awarded a one-year contract by DC. Basically, it's the "American Idol" of comics.
The Zuda site makes a point to state that they will not accept ideas based on current properties... "you know, like Batman." That's a good thing, I think. Potentially, this project could introduce some amazing new non-superhero material to the comics-reading public, since any material that makes a big splash with readers will almost certainly make it to print eventually.
Sounds pretty cool to me. As with all things, however, time will tell of it's success or lack of same.
